The "official" start of NUITS D"AFRIQUE 2008 was last night. I've been in town since Tuesday and I've already talked about several "pre-festival" shows up to this point.
Last night was the true kickoff in a truely spectacular style. There were four performances at three seperate venues across Montreal. VOVO (from Brazil) conducted ESTAçãO DA LUZ at Club KOLA NOTE. SHIMITA EL DIEGO, once with the famous SOUKOUS STARS from Congo, performed at CLUB BALATTOU. We decided to go to THE METROPOLIS to catch a night of music from Algeria with the legend IDIR and opening act SYNCOP. What an incredible performance.
